Nasarawa Impeachment : Assembly asks Chief Judge to set up panel

As the impeachment plot against governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa state thickens, the State House of Assembly has directed a seven-man investigative panel to be set up to investigate allegations against the governor.

An earlier allegation of gross misconduct was level against Almakura and thereafter due  to  be served with an impeachment notice which is still hanging over him.

Taking a decision on Wednesday in Lafia, the state assembly under the leadership of Ahmed Mohammed  directed that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman  immediately constitute the investigative panel to look into the an allegation of misconduct level led against the now embattled governor Almakura

Majority leader of the assembly Godiya Akwashiki(PDP- Udege/Loko) moved the motion for the setting up of the probe panel in line with the provision of the 1999 constitution as amended and seconded by Mr. Mohammed Baba-Ibaku (PDP- Udege -Uloko).
