New Eskom power lines may put Cape Vultures at risk

MAGALIESBERG, North West – Power lines are one of the biggest threats to the survival of vultures and other wild birds in South Africa.
Eskom’s plans to construct a nearly 50km long power line that runs through a vulture reserve in the North West and is ruffling feathers in the process.
Conservationists fear the power line will threaten the endangered Cape Vultures in the area.
But, Department of Environmental Affairs says it’s given careful consideration to giving the project the green light.
