Niger East Bye- Election Hold Peacefully -ALIYU

Niger state Governor Babangida Aliyu has commended the maturity displayed by voters in Saturday’s Niger East senatorial bye- election just as he also praised the peaceful nature of the polls held in 9 local government areas of the state.

The assembly seat became vacant following the recent demise of Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta.

He said at the Umar Musa polling unit that voters also displayed determination to exercise their franchise by coming out in their thousands to cast their ballots.

“You can see that even in the rain people still came out to vote this is commendable”.

The Governor said with what he saw on Saturday democracy has come to stay in the country.

 Aliyu also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for delivering election materials in good time saying that this has added to the success recorded.

He expressed optimism that the candidate of the People Democratic Party Dr Shem Zagbayi Nuhu  will emerge victorious in the election as a result of the support the candidate and the PDP enjoys from the people in the senatorial district.
