Nigeria: Bomb meant for Okonjo Iweala discovered at Abuja NIPOST office

Police in Abuja this afternoon detonated a time bomb dropped at the entrance to the Area 8 Abuja office of NIPOST.

Eye witnesses told Daily Times that the parcel containing the expolsive device has been at the gate since last week Friday. He said the parcel had a N100 stamp on it. An inscription on the parcel said it was meant for the Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo –

According to him, the police was called to the scene  by officials of NIPOST who were rattled on discovering the item.

When the police arrived the Nipost Area 8 office where they parcel was kept, they quickly condoned off the post office to stop traffic which led to hundreds of people gathering to watch the scene.

Eye witnesses say police had to blast the parcel open when they could not break it.

Items that were found when the parcel was blown open indlude pieces of stones, sand and broken glasses.

While addressing the media on the incident, Post Master General of the Federation Ibrahim Mori Baba confirmed it. He said a time bomb was found outside the office which made them invite the police.

Baba said those who planted the bomb wanted to use Nipost as a guise adding that it was not allowed because due process was not followed.

He called on Nigerians to be more vigilant and to report suspicious objects and people if they notice any.
