Nigeria Stood At The Receiving End In Libyan Uprising
Chairman of Zamfara state council of Chief Emir of Zamfara Attahiru Moh’d Ahmad insisted that the Libyan uprising which led to the death of the country’s president Mammar Gaddafi has impacted negatively on the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria saying, thousands of deadly weapons were imported from Libya to Nigeria.
The Emir who was speaking when he received the state commissioner of police Ahmed Ibrahim in his palace at the commencement of the CP’s state tour to the seventeen emirate councils of the state noted that, some unpatriotic Nigerians took advantage of the porous border between Libya-Niger and Nigerian to import deadly weapons in to the country.
“AK 47 riffles and other deadly weapons get in to the country in a very large quantity during the libyan uprising and today in Nigeria it is very easy to access weapons of whatever type because they are available for sale in the country” the emir added.
He called on the people of Nigeria to eliminate hat rate and put the feelings of Nigeria at heart saying, security challenges is global phenomenon only that the Nigerian circumstance was hijacked by several human factors.
He commended the State Commissioner of Police for his dynamic and all inclusive approach in ensuring drastic reduction in crime rate and sustainable peace adding that within six month of his redeployment Zamfara has experience a relative peace.
The monarch used the opportunity to call on the state commissioner of police to strengthen the police community relations committee with a view to enlightening the public more on the activities of the Nigerian Police Force.
The police Commissioner CP Ahmed Ibrahim earlier in a remark told the monarch that, he decided to pay a scheduled visit to all the royal fathers in the state in order to intimate them on the need to support the police in more diversified manner to enable them maintained peace in Zamfara.
He added that, though the challenges of cattle rustling remain a big problem in Zamfara it is his proud that the phenomenon has reduced drastically and that gave him the courage to seek for further guide to make the problem became a history.
