Nigeria: The Shame we are bringing to Anambra
By Ogbuefi Blogs
This photo below, was published in Punch newspaper of Sunday Sept 1, 2013 and if you look carefully you will see the factional PDP governorship candidate, Tony Nwoye in a scuffle with someone in a suit. This is the shame called Anambra, a state in which Prince Arthur Eze is trying to replace the Uba clan as the new godfather.
The sharp political division in Anambra chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) degenerated into a free for all duel at Eagles Square, venue of the special convention of the ruling party last Saturday.
Long before the event commenced, organizers had divided the seats according to states. Shortly before the arrival of the President, the Anambra section of the venue was thrown into chaos when the two groups laying claim to the governorship ticket in the state exchanged blows for about an hour over sitting positions.
Andy Uba came into the venue with his group several hours before the commencement of the event. He was seated with the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah and his brother, Chris Uba.
Trouble however broke out when Tony Nwoye came in with a large crowd of youths.
While Nwoye was trying to find a seat, the youths with him went straight to Andy Uba and demanded to know what he was doing on a seat reserved for Nwoye. They also challenged Uba and said since he was on suspension, he had no business attending the event.
While Andy remained silent without raising a finger, Chris stood up to them and claimed that the suspension had been lifted by a court judgement.
At this time, the shouting match degenerated into a brawl when one of the youths pushed Chris and people behind him. Chris however stood his ground and the exchange of punches and blows followed. Meanwhile, the security aide to Stella Odua had tactically moved the minister out of the scene before the fisticuffs ensued.
During the free for all, security men battled to curtail the youths who insisted that Andy must leave the scene before peace could reign. Andy remained seated and silent.
It took the intervention of additional security men to bring the brawl under control.
When the President walked in with some governors and other key officers of the party, the fighting group suspended the fight and saluted the President and continued afterwards.
Tony Nwoye later found a seat beside the Uba brothers though there was a man separating him from Chris.
Romors of Nwoye being a cultist is gradually beginning to manifest. Anambra does not need a thug in the government house. This writing is clear on the wall.
