Nigerian Uzo Aduba Wins Emmy Award!

A Nigerian, Uzo Aduba has won the Emmy award for her role in TV series, Orange Is the New Black.


It’s her first Emmy for playing “Crazy Eyes.”

Uzo was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, was honored at the 65th annual Creative Arts Emmy where statues are given out for the more technical, behind-the-scenes categories like costume, hairstyling and art direction.


She was nominated alongside co-stars Natasha Lynne and Laverne Cox.

After receiving her award from Morgan Freeman, she broke town in tears. “I don’t know how to say how incredibly impressed I am to be a part of this show day in, day out,” she said. She also thanked her mother for moving from Nigeria “to make a better life for her family.”
