Nyanya bombing: DailyPost disclaims circulating email linking Lamido Sanusi to incident
Our attention has been drawn to the circulation of a purported email from DailyPost, linking suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to Monday’s deadly explosion at Nyanya, an outskirt of Abuja city.
We not only view this as an attack on our organisation, we find it very disturbing that anyone or persons would go to the extreme just to tarnish the hard earned name and integrity we have built in many years of fair and balanced news reportage.
To start with, since inception, DailyPost does not send newsletters. Although we have this in our plans, we are yet to commence.
Secondly, those behind the email titled ‘Arrested Boko Haram member reveals Sanusi’s involvement in the Nyanya Motor Park Bomb Blast of Monday, April 14, 2014′ gave themselves as ignorant jobbers, who are desperate to carry out the dictate of their paymaster(s); or how else can one explain a sensational headline that included the date of incident?
Thirdly, PHOTONEWS@dailypost.ng, the email address used by the sender is unknown to us. It is non existent!
Fourthly, our photonews story on the senseless and condemnable bombing of the motor park of Abuja Urban Mass Transport Agency, operators of the popular El-Rufai buses, was one out of many we published on the incident.
In it, nowhere did we mention the suspended apex bank chief as contained in the email sent to a number of individuals as well as media practitioners. See link here: http://dailypost.ng/2014/04/14/photonews-bomb-blast-nyanya-motor-park-abuja/
Our esteemed readers are advised to open and read the link. The report was a three-paragraph that DID NOT include what our traducers are pushing out to unsuspecting public.
Whereas, the third paragraph of our report stated that “Several passengers were reportedly killed while several others sustained several degrees of injuries and were taken to undisclosed hospitals.”, they added the following:
“Arrested Boko Haram member on monday evening confessed Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s involvement in the bomb blast.
“Sanusi was immediately picked up by members of the DSS last night at his Asokoro residence in Abuja last night. It was a thug of war as he tried to resist arrest and was later bondled away to the DSS headquarters at Aso Villa.
“Find Attached Pictures of the scenes of his arrest and intensed Interrogation.”
As seen, the write-up not only contains error, it is no news at all! Being a field with a high number of quality and trustworthy reporters, we believe the author of this balderdash is not a true Nigerian journalist.
Moreso, they even failed to show the world the “scenes of his (Sanusi’s imaginary) arrest and intense Interrogation.” Instead, they copied and pasted the same photos we published on the site.
We wish to state unequivocally that DailyPost as a law-abiding, human respecter and credible publishing company, will NEVER deliberately tarnish the image of any Nigerian, low or mighty.
