Osun Election: Omisore supporters kill APC member
Senator Iyiola Omisore’s political supporters have been accused of killing a member of the opposition party on Friday 25 July. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the forthcoming election in Osun state moved his campaign train to Ilesa on Saturday, but prior his arrival some of supporters were believed to have stormed the town striking fear into residents.
A source told P.M. News that “his gang of miscreants believed to be IBK boys were seen brandishing cutlasses and shooting sporadically,” the source said.
The source noted that in the process a member of the opposition party was killed. “Tolu Adeosun, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in ward 9 Ilesa East was shot death in front of his house around Osun Ankanra, in Irojo immediately he was identified by one of the miscreants as an APC member,” he said.
“Late Tola Adeosun held naming ceremony for his new born baby just yesterday, the source added that, they threatened to kill more APC members.”
The source said that the act was the height of anarchy and political thuggery. “May God spare Osun from Iyiola Omisore and his murderous gang, despite the obvious rejection of his candidature all over the state, he has begun to claim victory ahead of 9 August governorship elections,”
He added that: “Iyiola Omisore must be ready to kill thousands of Osun to actualize his ambition.”
Residents of Ilesa, the hometown of the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, say the miscreants have promised more violence for the governor’s supporters.
