Outrage Over Edmund Kudzayi’s Bail Restrictions
Some news readers have expressed disapproval and outrage over Sunday Mail Edmund Kudzayi’s bail restrictions in which he was ordered to surrender the title deeds to his parent’s house.
Kudzayi is being charged together with his brother, Phillip for allegedly running the notorious Baba Jukwa Facebook page with the intention to commit insurgency against the government and was released by High Court Judge Joseph Musakwa on a $5200 plus title deed bail.
Kudzayi, 28, was ordered to surrender the title deeds to his parents’ property in Hillside, Harare, conditions news readers say are unfair and unreasonable.
Wrote one news reader identified only as Frank D, “Edmund is a 28 year old adult fully responsible for his actions who is no minor at all and so why is the learned judge bringing his parents into all this?” Other news readers joined the discussion either condemning or agreeing with the verdict against Kudzayi.
Meanwhile Justice Musakwa further ordered him to surrender the password to the Baba Jukwa e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org to the investigating officer Detective Assistant Commissioner Crispen Makedenge. Edmund is to be confined within a 40-kilometre radius of the Harare Main Post Office and whenever he wishes to travel beyond that, he has to seek permission from the court. Edmund was also ordered to surrender his travel documents to the clerk of court and to report twice daily at Harare Central Police Station.
