Over 100 Golfers Honour New Minna Captain

More than 100 golfers converged at the Minna cantonement to participate in the Captain Mug edition of the Minna Golf tournament which started with a tee off by the Grand patron of the prestigious club.

 

Speaking before the tee-off, Captain of the Minna Golf Club, Major General Jinadu S. Bindawa said the over 100 golfers are expected to participate in different categories which will last by August ending.

 

He said over the weekend at the Minna Cantonement Golf Club when the Grand Patron, Major General Salihu Zawaya Uba Tee-off to mark the coming on-board of a new captain for the Minna Golf Club that golfers will compete for various trophies.

 

According to him “We have different trophies for different categories of players and we limited the invitation for obvious reasons. We have professional groups, zero to 12 years, 13 to 20, 21 to 28 years and of course the female and veteran categories.

 

“We tee off today to mark the beginning of a new exco. I am the new Captain of the Minna Golf club and it is a tradition to initiate the coming on-board of  a new Captain to golfers so that they will be aware of a new leadership. We had the Sallah Mug during Sallah period and we are starting the Cadre’s competition this month.”

 

He added that the tee off tradition takes place when a Captain is selected or elected in conducting a Mug. “This is to kick start the golfing activities which before now were not active.”

 

Some of the dignitaries at the tee off included, the Commander, Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Major General Salihu Zawaya Uba who is the Grand patron of the Club, Professor Ediga Agbo the Captain of Bauchi Golf Club, Alhaji Ahmed Ismail Captain of the Kaduna Golf Club.
