The deputy Chairman of the Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Tanko Beji on Sunday confirmed that the All Progressive congress (APC) has concluded plans to unleash thugs on electorates to disrupt the conduct of the Niger East Senatorial by-election.

Beji in a signed press statement said the thugs have already been paid and handed maps of places to attack adding that their primary mission is aimed at causing maximum confusion to either manipulate or completely frustrate the process.

He expressed sadness at the way and manner the Niger state APC is going about the by-election said the planned action of the opposition only shows that they are far from prepared in the next general election.

“The opposition in Niger state need to be schooled on the basic values of electoral practices. They have failed to realize that politics is not all about thuggery, blackmail or laughable propaganda. Niger APC must understand that election is not a do-or-die affair.”

“It has been revealed that most of the thugs recruited to cause trouble during the forthcoming by-election are not from Niger state. We have however contacted security operatives to be ready to fend off attacks by these hired thugs if they continue with the plans. We are however hopeful that these misguided youths realize that thuggery only satisfies narrow interest of a few elites.”

He added that “haven wasted so much time speaking drivel against the PDP administration, the APC has failed to put its house together. The result of their strange political approach has only made them to loose electoral value. Sadly, instead of finding how best to correct this self inflected political problem, they have concluded plans to use thugs to cut corners.”

Deputy Chairman urged the APC to allow the people decide. He said the wish of the people will prevail at the end. He said part of plans to cause problem at the polls is attempt to prevent security operatives from participating in the by-election.

Beji said that despite all the baseless allegations, cheap blackmails targeted at the PDP, the ruling party waxes stronger, with growing followership. He added that Niger opposition lacks character and that is part of the reason people of Niger state will not vote the party.
