Platini confirms he won’t battle Blatter for FIFA presidency

Michel PlatiniMichel Platini, has insisted that he will not contest against Sepp Blatter for FIFA presidency, but will seek another term as UEFA president.

The 59-year-old confirmed this to UEFA delegates, who are in Monaco for Thursday’s draws for the group stages of the Champions League competition.

“It was a very positive message – he said he would like to continue as Uefa president and I am pleased that it means that this time there will be no battle between Fifa and Uefa,” The European FIFA executive committee member Michel D’Hooghe said.

Platini had previously called for a “breath of fresh air” at the top of the world football governing body.
