Police smash killer squad in Benue

Nigeria policeThe Benue State Police Command has arrested a notorious killer squad responsible for the death of at least, six persons in Makurdi recently.

The Command’s Deputy Commissioner, DCP Femi Oyeleye, who made this disclosure in Makurdi, the Benue State capital stated that three suspected armed robbers who belong to the killer gang have been arrested in connection with the killing of innocent citizens.

“The gang was smashed with the arrest of Torkuma Mbanongun at Wurukum Motor Park on August 8 with one AK 47 rifle and two locally made pistols. Police later arrested other members of the gang including Sunday Chiangi, alias Sunday Kpoki and Usman Yakubu all of Makurdi metropolis,” he said.

The police boss told newsmen that the nabbed suspects have confessed to the killing of Mr. Peter Alechenu Anyebe, Sgt. Bawa Ekoja, Mr. Aondona Felix, Mr. Orji Chukwudi, Prof. Givua Jande and Pastor Gideon Ali Adoor at different places, where they carried out robbery operations in Makurdi, the state capital.

According to him the gang killed and dumped Anyebe in a gutter along Abu King Shuluwa road and made away with his ash coloured car which they used to rob another victim on Kastina-Ala street before dumping it in Wurukum area.

Relatively, Shima was killed in a hotel where the suspects operated and Bawa was gunned down on his way home after work.

The other deceased victims including Prof. Jande, Pastor Adoor and Chukwudi were killed during separate robberies at Benue State University, NKST Church, Iortyer and along Kastina-Ala street in Makurdi respectively.
