Polls: APC Alleges Katsina PDP Of Taking Over LGs
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has alleged that candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have taken over local government administration even before the conduct of council polls slated for September 6.
Speaking with newsmen, APC chairman in the state Mustapha Inuwa alleged that already, PDP candidates in some local governments have started awarding contracts, a situation which put them at loggerheads with acting administrators of such councils.
He said this attitude was a clear indication that the ruling party has concluded arrangements to rig the election in favour of its chosen candidates against the wishes of the people.
He further alleged that the action was a case of illegality and corruption that is perpetrated by the government of the day, noting time would come when such candidates would be held accountable by the people and constituted authority.
“They are just candidates and already expending resources of the people. If the government wanted they could have just appointed caretakers to man the councils rather than allow aspiring candidates to start operating offices they are vying for without being elected ‘’ he said.
Attempts to get PDP’s reaction on the allegations were not successful as no official was available for comment. Spokesman Ali Sukununi said the party officials were in a meeting at the time of filing this report.
