Rebuild Ferguson or There’s Gonna Be Hell to Pay
Better rebuild all those businesses we looted and burned or we’ll have to go miles out of our way to loot and burn other businesses.
CBS interviewed three young men in Ferguson, Missouri this week.
One protester Gunny warned officials:
“To be honest, if they don’t come and restore these neighborhoods for these people, like when you gotta go travel miles to Walmart and to get gas and stuff like that, it should be right here. If they don’t restore this community for people who stay here it’s gonna be hell to pay…
A second protester chimed in: Yeah, that’s why people looting, because they can’t get no jobs.
And they can’t get no jobs because they’re looting.
So someone has to come and restore the neighborhood until the next time everything gets looted and burned. Of course some businesses will come. Those businesses will have high insurance costs and they won’t have much money to spend on labor costs.
They’ll likely to be Asian or Middle Eastern families selling liquor and lottery tickets through bulletproof glass using their own family members as unpaid labor. They won’t create any jobs but those are the only kinds of businesses that will want to come under those conditions.
