Fourth epistle to Zimbabweans, at home and abroad‏

Dear brethren. Greetings. Zimbos, beware! Zanu(PF) is in panic mode and mood and they have every reason to be. The highly charismatic Morgan Tsvangirai and his highly popular MDC-T party are gaining greater ground every day.

Take it this way. When MDC wants people to gather, they do so voluntarily in their thousands and at times at their own expense! When Mugabe and Zanu(PF) want people to gather, it has to be by jambanja(by force) and they hire buses to ferry the people. If they don’t force people, mostly those who operate market stalls and apostolic sect members (some of whom have leaders who lack sound doctrine and theological training), they have to call innocent school children who neither vote nor have an interest in current affairs.

Mugabe’s cousin murdered

There are two events that show the extent to which Tsvangirai’s popularity has sent shockwaves down the spines of ZANU(PF). First was the announcement by the Wikileaks sell-out Joyce Mujuru: that foreign observers are not welcome. She wants ZANU(PF) violence to go unnoticed during the election period, but the Vice President should know better than this. The President himself lost a cousin, a Ms Chirimanyemba who owned market stalls in Mbare and who resided in Ardbennie in an orgy of violence by ZANU PF militants.

So gruesome was the killing that it has remained the talk of the whole Mbare neighbourhood to this day. Upon a simple visit to Mbare musika last week, three Hwindis at the terminus told openly of mbuya Chirimanyemba:

“Akasvamuriswa neGap ne boyz dze Chipangano.”

Local police have confirmed that she was killed after being hit by a stone by known ZANU PF militants.

Mujuru’s own husband set on fire!

Mrs Mujuru herself is now widowed after her husband and great soldier General Solomon Mujuru was assassinated and then set on fire! So as l stated in a letter to President Robert Mugabe: ‘violence is bad and begets violence’ and there are no holy cows. We all suffer because not all of Mugabe’s or Mujuru’s relatives are guarded and they, just like us, will be caught in crossfire!

If ZANU(PF) is really after free and fair elections, then why are they afraid of international observers? Obviously, they are afraid of international condemnation and failing to get legitimacy because they want to use foul means in this election. Mujuru, in her wisdom or lack of it, is failing to see that in violence ZANU has created a Frankenstein’s monster that it fails to control!

Zimbabwe:Mugabe’s cousin, killed by ZANU PF militants

That brings us to the issue of Christpowers Maisiri, a twelve-year-old. His story has shaken the corridors of power and any little faith we had in Mr Robert Mugabe. You see Christpowers was born in the mountains in Headlands not because they couldn’t afford hospital fees but because when Mrs Maisiri gave birth, the family was being terrorised by ZANU(PF) and they sought refuge in the mountains! The Maisiri homestead was destroyed by ZANU(PF) thugs on numerous occasions and on Sunday 24 February in the early hours of the morning the devil struck again. The homestead was hit by a petrol bomb and all of Christpowers’ siblings could have perished in that inferno were it not for God’s grace. Maisiri’s crime is very simple: he is the deputy organising secretary for MDC in his district and hence is a thorn in ZANU(PF)’s flesh and they killed his son in order to demotivate him or to stop him entirely for working for change!

And listen to the police. They have already done their preliminary investigations, and their findings? Well the Maisiri family kept some chemicals and hence these burst into flames because of heat! Look at the coincidences. The father had been promised to be sorted out by ZANU youths. Of all the people who keep farming chemicals in Zimbabwe it is only his that burst out into flames! The third coincidence is that he is a member of MDC-T. No, this was a premeditated action by the once majority but now minority party, Zanu(PF). This comes hard on the heels of Mugabe’s peace messages. But who can believe him?

As l write one of his confused cadres Themba Mliswa is in custody for violence against a ZANU(PF) MP for addressing a rally at a township! Its a pity Mugabe is leaving us a legacy of violence and intolerance instead of peace and tolerance! And what a legacy! Its something a dad or mom wouldn’t like to leave their children. Imagine if it was Chatunga or Robert Jnr or Bona who had been killed in that inferno instead of Christpowers. The culprits would have been caught in record time and perhaps Robert Mugabe and Zanu(PF) would be walking the talk of peace now!

Then there is the devil’s own disciple, Jabulani Sibanda who is moving around terrorising peace-loving Zimbabweans and Robert Mugabe and Augustine Chihuri are not doing anything about it! Mugabe and Chihuri are both committing the crime of omission by failing to act on Jabulani Sibanda and other ignoramuses from the decadent ZANU(PF) who are also perpetrating violence on innocent Zimbos. The two are opening themselves up to future prosecutions in our courts or at the Hague. We definitely can not lie to each other! Its only recently that the parties to the GNU signed that cases of violence from 2009 would be looked into, that is, investigated. Therefore, Chihuri and Mugabe must act on violence lest they be misconstrued as not only condoning violence but also subtly and tacitly supporting it. Sibanda must be arrested.

Yours sincerely, Herbert Mugwagwa
