Salem event raises money for poor community in Ethiopia
A benefit concert, auction and raffle brought local artists and residents together for a faraway cause Sunday.
“A Korah Christmas,” which took place at IKE Box in downtown Salem, was an effort to raise money and awarness for the community of Korah, Ethiopia. Organizers of the event say Korah is one of the poorest communities in the world, where people find their food and make their living by digging through trash.
Last year, the event raised more than $10,000. It featured live art, music and Christmas tree decorating.
