The 2014 Manjai Kunda nawettan proper gets underway this week with Sanchaba United and Fajara South settling for a draw in the opening game played at the Father Gough Sports Complex.
Fajara dominated large part of the proceedings and had numerous chances to break the deadlock in the second half but failed to take advantage of the openings, and the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a goalless stalemate.
Speaking in a post-match interview with Observer Sports, the Sanchaba United coach Fakebba Jaiteh expressed disappointment with the outcome of the game. “We really played to win this game but it was tough on us to get a single goal; now a big deal is ahead, for the draw is not encouraging as a start. But I am hundred percent sure that in our next game we will collect the maximum points.”
For his part, the head coach of the 2012 Manjai Kunda champions, Baba Bojang, hailed his Fajara South players for the brilliant performance, adding that Sanchaba was only playing for a point.
“My team comes with a big difference this season despite losing key players. We aim to collect both trophies and we will surely work for it,” he concluded.
