The Chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun state, Mr. Ademola Isola has stated that his party will not go to sleep after the poll but remain a strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ademola in a statement in Osogbo at the weekend thanked the National Chairman of the party, Chief Olu Falae and all members of SDP across the state for working assiduously throughout the electioneering period, saying last governorship election was just the beginning of another journey.

He said, “It is not over yet until we see that our collective money is spent judiciously. We won’t go to sleep after this election because this is our state. SDP will form an alternative cabinet or what is called shadow cabinet in United Kingdom to monitor the system and to put those in position of authority on their feet.

“Our party is not just seeking to govern Osun. SDP is not just looking for power for its sake. But as a party, we see ourselves as the third force and the best option.

“Never again are we going to allow anyone to run government affairs in our state with impunity the way it was done in the last three and half year by APC led administration”, he stated.

Isola disclosed that, members of the party have resolved to participate in the 2015 General Election and will field candidates to contest both the National and the State House of Assemblies.

Meanwhile, the party’s flag bearer in the poll, Mr. Olusegun Akinwusi has also expressed his appreciation to journalists all over the country for their tremendous support for him and his party, while noting that men of the pen profession were his solid partners during the period.

The former Head of Service (HOS) who spoke after a brief meeting with members of his party in the state capital said, “We have gone through the rough paths together. We have canvassed for votes across the state. Our message to the people everywhere was about good governance and better days for everybody.

“Our message has not changed as true citizens of Osun state; we will stand firmly as a major opposition to check any excess by the government or any act of mis-governance in this state.

“Sooner, we are sure people will understand us that we are different from the current set of professional politicians seeking offices as contractors, businessmen and investors”, Akinwusi stated.

He thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for ensuring that security of lives and properties were adequately provided for during the August 9 election.
