Zambia Reports has received notice that the security wings of the Zambian Government are conducting a surprise sweep of various opposition figures and independent journalists.

According to one well placed informant, the security agents are conducting searches of various private homes, and are said to be targeting the private residences of Charles Kakoma, a spokesperson for the opposition United Party of National Development (UPND), as well as party President Hakainde Hichilema. The source said that the agents are also planning to raid the homes of former Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa, along with a number of independent journalists.

The source says that the agents are seeking to apply pressure on people and scare them into silence. Among the documents they are seeking are copies of the bank statements relating to alleged corruption of the first family, which were later published by Zambia Reports.
