Somali Government shuts down Radio stations for incitement

The federal government of Somali has announced the closure of private radio stations Shabelle FM and its sister FM station Sky.

According to Somali ministry for defense spokesman Mohamed Yussuf the station has broadcasted programs that threaten the national security.

The two stations are off air and some of the staff members detained for questioning at Somali Intelligence headquarters in Mogadishu.

Somali current source in Mogadishu who will not name for security purpose has confirmed that the station has interviewed anti government personalities who uttered incitement messages during the interview.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has blamed Somali independent media for pro Al Shabaab broadcasts during an interview with BPS TV while in US for US Africa summit.
