Leaders of the zone, who thronged the Ekwueme Square from all the five south eastern states for the zonal rally of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, (TAN) took time to assure the president of their support should he accept to vie.
Abia Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim, Chief Iwuanyanwu, Prince Arthur Eze, Josephine Anninih and several other dignitaries agreed that Jonathan had performed well and should be given the chance to complete his job.
Former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi in his remark assured Jonathan that the support he will get from the people of the zone will be double of what he saw in 2011.
Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano who was represented by the secretary ton State government, Oseloka Obaze assured Jonathan of the support of Anambra people, calling on him to declare his interest and see him mobilize for him.
Speaking on behalf of lawmakers from the zone, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha stated that all the 16 senators and 43 members of house of representatives from the south East were ready to work and galvanise support for the president.
He listed the second Niger bridge, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and good federal roads in the area as some of the reason the zone will not disappoint Jonathan.
Representative of the President, Chief Ben Obi, who is also the special adviser to the President on inter-party matters in his reaction to all the pleas, pledged to convey the message to Jonathan,
promising that at the appropriate time, the president will give his feedback to his supporters, but stated that they should be rest assured that he will not disappoint his people.
The rally, which witnessed a large attendance from all the south eastern states was put together by a non governmental organization coordinated by Dr Ifeanyi Ubah of Capital Oil and Gas.
