Stoichkov blasts Barcelona for selling Sanchez to Arsenal
Former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov, has taken a swipe at the club, for selling Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal.
The forward completed his move to the Emirates on Thursday, for a fee around €40million, three years after joining the La Liga side from Udinese.
Stoichkov insisted his departure was premature and claimed the board of directors lack football knowledge.
“Because of the people who don’t know anything about football, we have now sold one of the best players we had at Barca,” Stoichkov was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Barcelona’s policy has always been like this. They clearly don’t like great players.
“Alexis was the best player Barca had for his pace, determination and mentality.
“He always fights for every ball and works hard for the team. He can leave with his head held high. He is a decisive player, who never gives up.”
Sanchez scored 19 times in 34 Liga appearances last season.
