Stop Peddling Falsehood on Soka kidnappers’den, Group tells Accord Party
An interest group, Oyo Development Initiative (ODI), has accused the Accord Party in the state of seeking to cause violence in the state using the unfortunate ritual killings in a forest discovered at the Soka area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The group, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday by its Coordinator, Dr. Adesola Okanlawon, said it was unfortunate that the party could be deliberately politicizing the issue and feeding innocent members of the public with lies over an incident that called for sober reflection.
According to ODI, the deliberate falsehood being peddled by Accord Party is an indication that all the party is after is to throw the state into confusion and set the people against the government, all in an attempt to gain cheap political point.
“It is no longer news that the stock-in-trade of Accord Party is peddling of lies, politics of destruction and character assassination. The reaction of the Soka ritual killings by the party is another testimony of its politics of falsehood and mischief.
“No sooner had the forest of horror been discovered than the Accord Party went to town to insinuate that the state government had a link with the incident. This is not only wicked, it has also shown the desperation of Accord Party to set the state on fire in order to set the stage for the coming back to power of its chief promoter, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, which will continue to be a pipe dream.
“The outburst of the party has also shown it and its stalwarts as grossly insensitive to the mood of the moment, as they are feeding fat on the misfortune of the families of those who had been killed for ritual purposes and the captives who have just been rescued from the jaws of death,’’ it said.
Rather than making mountain out of molehill over the incident, the group said that the Ajimobi administration should be commended for the discovery of the evil forest and its prompt intervention in rescuing the victims.
“Indeed, Accord Party has no moral justification to accuse the Ajimobi government of any complicity in the Soka incident. Rather, Sen. Ladoja, who is the Chief Promoter of the party, should bury his head in shame that throughout his tenure, he was not security conscious enough to discover the den which had been in existence right from the inception of his administration,’’ ODI said.
It called on the people of the state to be aware of the antics of Ladoja and his cohorts re-enact the era of violence in the state which characterized his tenure as governor by inciting members of the public against the government.
