Three children drowned while playing in a water pond in North Darfur on Friday.

“Safaa Ahmed El Taher Nahar (9), Marwa Mousa Taher Nahar (7), and Abdallah Ali Abdallah Nahar (7) drowned in the Turba district, south of El Fasher, on Friday, when they were playing in one of the water ponds”, a relative of the children told Radio Dabanga.

North Darfur’s capital of El Fasher and the surrounding areas were hit by torrential rains on 9 and 10 August.

The Sudanese Ministry of Health announced in its daily bulletin on Thursday that the number of the victims of the rains and ensuing floods that hit the large parts of the country has risen to 88 fatalities. 227 people were injured. About 38.459 households have been affected in the different states of Sudan.
