zctu-mwaba-zambia-reportsThe ‘toothless’ Zambia Congress of Trade Unions has also found its long lost voice to protest the Members of Parliament’s proposed emoluments increment.

ZCTU Secretary General Roy Mwaba said ZCTU would oppose the increment vehemently.

The formerly forceful ZCTU has in the recent years gone cold simply glossing over workers’ demands with the recent wage and recruitment freeze a clear demonstration of how weakened ZCTU is.

“The public service workers, the unions, ZCTU won’t sit idle and see the leadership at the very top manipulating the system. We condemn this totally,” said Mwaba.

Government has imposed a two year recruitment wage and recruitment freeze on the public service.

Members of Parliament last week set the tone for an increase in their emoluments when the motion was tabled in the house to a unanimous opinion.
