Tottenham to rival Manchester United for Fulham star Dembele
Tottenham are set to rival Manchester United in the race to sign Fulham forward Moussa Dembele, according to reports in the British press.
United have already made an offer for the Belgium international, which was deemed “very low” by Fulham and are yet to increase their bid.
And while there has been a lack of movement from United, talkSPORT understands that Tottenham are ready to swoop for Dembele by triggering a £15million release clause in his contract.
The 25-year-old currently has one year remaining on his contract, but Fulham have the option to extend it by a further year, which they are certainly expected to do.
However, they will have a major fight on their hands to keep hold of Dembele beyond the current transfer window.
Dembele has previously insisted he is happy at Fulham and has no intention of leaving, but the lure of a bigger club competing in Europe and contesting silverware could prove hard to resist.
Meanwhile, Fulham have lodged a complaint to the Premier League regarding Liverpool’s pursuit of another of their star players in Clint Dempsey.
The Londoners are unhappy with the way Liverpool went public with their interest in the American forward but have so far failed to produce an official bid.
