Transforming South Africa’s workplace
The transformation of the workplace to be truly non-racial and non-sexist both in the public and private sector was never going to be an easy task. We inherited a country characterised by 450 years of unfair discrimination, divided on the basis of race and gender, and the exclusion of people with disabilities. The discriminatory measures elevated the socio-economic status of white people at the expense of black people.
The SA Government News Agency is a news service, published by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS). The people of South Africa have a right to information, irrespective of their class, colour or creed. The Government has a mandate to ensure that its entire people have access to information. In order to make this possible, SAnews.gov.za was established to provide quick and easy access to articles and feature stories aimed at keeping the public informed about the implementation of government's mandate.
An achievement of note for SAnews.gov.za was the clinching of a National Productivity Institute (NPI) Merit Award, in 2000, in recognition of the work it has done in disadvantaged communities.
