Wamakko, Amaechi upbraid PDP-led FG as weak and inefficient
The governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Ameachi has urged Nigerians to vote wisely if they want to bring an end to poverty, insecurity and bad governance that has characterized the nation’s trajectory in the last four years.
His appeal to Nigerians came just as his Sokoto counterpart, Aliyu Wamakko, described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led federal government as very weak, inefficient and that it had failed to deliver in all respects.
Adding to the deluge of criticism was the remarks by former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), who alleged that the Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura, was being persecuted because he belongs to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rivers State governor, who spoke at Rimawa village in Goronyo Local Government Area, at the inauguration of a modern agricultural skills acquisition centre constructed by the Wamakko administration, pledged that the APC was determined to change the direction of Nigeria and enable Nigerians have a secure country.
According to Amaechi, there was need for a total departure from where Nigerians are now, adding that “the only treatment that can cure Nigerians of PDP is the APC.
“If you remember your childhood days when you have headache, doctors prescribe APC for you and you don’t need any alternative today than APC to bring back the country to life,” he said.
He identified Wamakko as a governor who dispassionately works with honesty and detests corruption to a fault.
In his remarks, Wamakko described APC as a party that was established for the attainment of a better Nigeria, saying, “Myself and Ameachi are like minds, with similar ideas aimed at promoting and projecting the party in good light.
“APC is about Nigeria and not our personal interest but in the interest of transparency, accountability, good governance, food, security of Nigerians and affordable housing for all,” he stressed.
The Sokoto governor stressed that Nigerians should not only be yearning for change but actualize their aspiration through votes.
In a related development, Buhari who spoke at the birthday celebration of the former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Silva, yesterday appreciated the people of Nasarawa State for standing behind the governor in his travails.
“I congratulate the people of Nasarawa State for coming out across the party’s spectrum and supporting their governor against what members of the House of Assembly tried to do in Abuja, instead of the constitutionally allowed location. His only wrong doing is that he belonged to the APC,” he said.
