WBA manager praises Ideye
West Bromwich Abion manager, Alan Irvine, has praised Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye after he made his English Premier League debut in the goalless draw at Southampton on Saturday.
The Albion record signing twice came close to opening his goals account in the match.
Ideye, who came on for the injured Victor Anichebe, almost grabbed a winner for the Baggies – turning Jose Fonte, only to see his shot well saved by Fraser Forster, africanFootball.com reports.
“Ideye is a good finisher,” remarked Irvine. “It was a good save (when Southampton goalkeeper blocked the striker’s striker late in the game), but I expected him to score.
“But we saw his biggest thing. He has good movement, he’s different to Victor Anichebe in that respect. He likes to make those runs, get behind people. We saw a glimpse of what he can bring us.
“Full marks to him.
“He’s done very little training, he’s had no pre-season.”
