We Have Fulfilled Our Promise to the People Says Gov Aliyu
Niger state Governor, Babangida Aliyu yesterday said his administration over the past 6 years have fulfilled all its campaign promises to the people of the state.
He said there is no part of the state impact of the administration has not been felt, adding that the approach to governance since 2007 has been people based and result oriented
Aliyu made this known at the commissioning ceremony of the Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital Gulu, Lapai local government of Niger state.
“I can go to every ward in this state and feel free to move around because of what we have done for the people in the last couple of years”
The Governor singled out the Ward Development Project (WDP) program which N1m was released to each of the 274 wards across the 25 LGA’s as a policy that has assisted the administration in fast tracking the tempo of development in the state.
The construction of then General Hispital and the Lapai Gulu road, governor Aliyu said are in response to the the call by the people of the LGA when the administration came on board.
According to him, apart from driving on good road to neighboring states which will boost the economic fortune of the country added that the new General Hospital will now put a stop to the traffic of sick people travelling from the state to FCT and Kogi in search of medical needs.
Governor Aliyu defending the N4bn spent on the road project said the project was unintentionally subjected to prize variations explaining further that it was because the job was started in 2004 suffering several review on contract sum.
However, the General Hospital which cost a little over N900m Aliyu said has continued to attract the attention of other state governors because of its quality and moderate cost.
“Some people even think this hospital and road projects are Federal government projects, we are all here today to see that they are indeed all our projects”
He also disclosed that other projects embarked upon by the administration will be completed before may 29 2015, insisting that the bridge across River Shiroro will be commissioned in September this year.
On the planned construction of the Ebbo-Baro and the Gulu-Yaba road, Aliyu intimated that the benefitting communities will dialogue on which project to embark upon.
Commissioning the project former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar commended the Niger state governor for the developmental strides the administration has taken over the years.
“I am impressed by this project of humanitarian magnitude, it will last long in the memory of the people”
He therefore advised Nigerians to pray and work for peace as the 2015 election approaches.
