The supervising minister of education, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has not resigned his appointment as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Education, signed by the special assistant to the minister, Simeon Nwakaudu, stated that “The report being circulated online to the effect that he has resigned is false in its entirety. It is a planted report by mischief makers.”

It stated that the minister last Saturday represented the president at the 43rd convocation of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and yesterday, he was in the office to attend to official functions in the Federal Ministry of Education.

“On Thursday, he will be performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Special Vocational School in Delta State and will next week hold a town hall meeting for federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the North East at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.”

Some online reports stated at the weekend that “Investigations have revealed that the supervising minister for education, Barrister Nyesome Wike has tendered his resignation letter to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to pursue his political career.”
